Climate change impacts on world's primates: Case of Sulawesi black-crested macaque_(Story of the Frisky Yaki)_Black and White version_ Since at least 1997, scientists have been examining the possible impacts of climate change to primates of the world, with results that it is suspectedly changing their behaviors, activities, reproductive cycles, food availability and foraging range._ Latest report suggests that, in Sulawesi's black-crested macaque (Macaca nigra)—popularly known as "yaki" among the locals, "changes related to seasons will indirectly affect the possibility of the endemic monkey being infected by endoparasites."_ Without the warming temperature, primates have already suffered from the escalating anthropogenic pressures, causing up to 93% species to have declining population and around 68% to enter the extinction risk._ Primates are present naturally in 90 countries; however, two-thirds of all species occur in just four countries—Brazil, Madagascar, Indonesia, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC)._ In Indo-Malay realm, protected areas (such as Tangkoko Nature Reserve) account for only up to 9% of primate range._ Source: "The Gastrointestinal Parasites in Habituated group of Sulawesi Black-crested Macaque (Macaca nigra) in Tangkoko, North Sulawesi" (2022); Sitti Aisyah May Wulandari, et al.; Journal of Tropical Biodiversity and Biotechnology_"Global importance of Indigenous Peoples, their lands, and knowledge systems for saving the world's primates from extinction" (2022); Alejandro Estrada, et al.; ScienceAdvances_"Climate change threatens a quarter of world's primate habitat" (2021); Brogan M, Stewart (Concordia University); The Conversation_"Impending extinction crisis of the world's primates: Why primates matter" (2017); Alejandro Estrada, et al.; ScienceAdvances_"Behavior, Diet, and Movements of the Sulawesi Crested Black Macaque (Macaca nigra)" (1997); Timothy O'Brien, Margaret Kinnaird; International Journal of Primatology
