Wavertree Botanic Park and Garden, Liverpool, UK is a good example of a mid 19th century public park incorporating an earlier walled botanic garden, extended in the late 19th century. Particular features of the Garden include mid-Victorian (1850-70) geometric planting beds and the two storey Grade II listed curator's lodge (1836-37). The Edge Lane Botanic Garden and adjacent Wavertree Park (1843) became an enviable public facility in 1846, housing Williaim Roscoe's famous Botanic Collection until destruction of the Greenhouses (above) during World War Two. - Copyright owned photograph by David J Colbran 0044 0 7810 321 634
