According to Egyptian mythology, Khensu Nefer hotep (also referred to as Nesi Khensu) was a form of the mighty god Amon (also spelled Amun and Amen). In Egyptian art, he was depicted with two hawk heads (one facing left and one facing right), four wings, and two feet (each standing on the head of a crocodile). The heads represent the sun at sunrise and the new moon. On the heads are the lunar crescent and the solar disk. The crocodiles represent the two powers of darkness that Khensu has conquered.
