Pierre Sonnerat (1748-1814) war ein französischer Naturforscher und Forscher, der zwischen 1769 und 1781 mehrere Reisen nach Südostasien machte. Er veröffentlichte diese zweibändige Bericht über seine Reise von 1774-81 in 1782.
