Weitere Informationen:
During the Victorian era Derby Fish Market was a police station. In 1879 a man named Gerald Mannering was imprisoned in the police station for being drunken and disorderly whilst driving a pony and trap. While detained he pulled a gun from his pocket and shot two people, injuring one and killing the other, a PC Moss. Mannering escaped the death penalty however as the trial jury convicted the defendant for manslaughter and not murder.Today the fish market is believed to be haunted by the ghost of PC Moss. Some local people claim to have heard footsteps as if the area were being patrolled while others claim to have seen a man dressed in a Victorian Police uniform. This image is exclusive to Alamy.
