Circumpolar star trails over a grand old barn in southern Alberta, on a fine spring night, May 23, 2018. Illumination is from the waxing gibbous Moon to the south. This is looking north to Polaris at top right. A thunderstorm is on the northern horizon with a lightning bolt as a bonus. This is a stack of 155 exposures taken over 2 hours, stacked using the Advanced Stacker Plus actions in Photoshop, and the Ultrastreaks effect. The ground is a mean-combined stack of the last 8 exposures, to smooth noise and preserve shadows that would otherwise be blurred in the stack of 155 frames due to the Moon’s motion. All are 20-second exposures with the Laowa 15mm lens at f/2.8 and Sony a7III at ISO 800. A special effect filter was applied to the ground with Luminar to add the vintage toning.
