Yorba Linda, California, USA. 10th April, 2019. Mayor Tara Campbell of the City of Yorba Linda addresses the audience at “Celebrating the 48th Anniversary of ‘Ping Pong Diplomacy'’’ hosted by the American Chinese Athlete Association (ACAA) at the Richard Nixon Library and Museum in Yorba Linda, California on April 10, 2019. The event commemorated the opening of U.S.-China relations on April 10, 1971, when a team of American table tennis players arrived in China for a goodwill visit and friendly match of table tennis with a China team. The table tennis matches set the stage for a meeting with President Richard M. Nixon and Chinese Premier Chou En-lai which ended the Cold War between the countries, and became known as ‘Ping Pong Diplomacy’. The American Chinese Athlete Association (ACAA) is a non-profit organization of professional athletes that serve their communities and utilize sportsmanship to encourage and inspire the next generation of champions.
