Viking longhouse at Fyrkat ringfortress, Hobro, Denmark. The viking longhouse was reconstructed in the 1980s and resembles one of the 16 longhouses from AD 980 found inside the Fyrkat ring fortress. The house is 27, 5 X 7, 5 meters in the middle, but curves inward, so it is only 5 meter at the gables. The house is divided into 3 rooms with a hall in the middle and smaller rooms at each side. There are 4 entrances, each with small porches. against the walls are set tilted poles to support the building. The roof is made of overlapping wooden "tieles".
