Whitehall, London, UK. 12th November, 2015. Hundreds of protesters from all over the UK demonstrate opposite Downing Street in London against India Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Britain. Organised by campaign group Awaaz Network the demonstrators are made up of a number of religious and campaign groups, all of whom are calling upon the public not to "buy the stage-managed, internationally orchestrated hype about Modi". Sikhs in the UK have backed concerns of Muslim groups, holding Modi responsible for the "massacre of at least 2, 000 Muslims" during the Gujarat riots. They have also called on the Indian Prime Minister to release Sikh political prisoners and demanded justice for the Sikh Genocide of November 1984, which resulted in nearly 2, 800 deaths. Nepalese activists also joined the ‘Modi Not Welcome’ protest together with members of the South Asia Solidarity Group, Sikh Federation UK, Southall Black Sisters, Dalit Solidarity Network UK, Indian Muslim Federation, Indian Workers Association, Muslim Parliament, and Voice of Dalit International.
