Wai'anapanapa State Park. A leafy location with sea caves and volcanic cliffs. Hana Highway. Maui. Hawaii. This is a great stop in the Road to Hana. Beautiful vistas, black sand beaches, hiking and ample parking. The turn off can be easily missed so make sure you give yourself adequate time to slow down and keep a look out for signage. This is a busy stop where tour companies and tourist all stop, so you know it's not to be missed. If you're hiking down to the black sand beach, water socks or tennis shoes might be helpful but we were able to do it in flip flops. The water breaks at the shore, so be safe and take extra precaution. Do not forget your camera. Absolutely gorgeous! If you are doing the Road to Hana this is definitely a MUST stop. You have gorgeous views of the volcanic coastline, blowholes (sometimes), caves, trails, forests, wildlife, and even a black sand beach here to explore. We did this park on our way back from Hana so it was pretty full but the park is so big that it did not feel that crowded unlike some other stops on the tour. There were some locals that swam out to the rocks in the middle of the bay and were cliff jumping - absolutely insane considering how high the stack was!
