Favorite Louisa Mak Ming-sze was on Sunday (30 August 2015) night crowned Miss Hong Kong 2015 beating her classroom-to-TVB rival Ada Pong Cheuk-yan, proving that beauty and brains can go together. The two were primary and secondary schoolmates at Diocesan Girls' School. Mak has been in the spotlight since the first round of auditions as she scored 10 A's in the old Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination and graduated from Cambridge's law school. Pong, a Manhattan School of Music opera graduate, caught the attention of the media and the public as the daughter of Paul Pong Po-lam, managing director of Pegasus Fund Managers, while her aunt is Scarlett Pong Oi-lan, a Sha Tin district councilor. The 23-year-old Mak beat 11 other contestants at TVB City with a score of 925, 073, more than double Pong's 405, 295 votes given by the public through the organizer's app after the top four finalists were selected by the public and TVB adjudicators. Mak is also the winner of Miss Photogenic while Karmen Kwok Ka-man was the second runner-up.
