Tourists drive past the Bay Saint Louis Little Theatre on Blaize Avenue, April 3, 2021, in Bay Saint Louis, Mississippi. The Little Theatre was founded in 1946 and was based on Boardman Avenue until their building was destroyed in 2005 by Hurricane Katrina. Bay Saint Louis Little Theatre moved into its current building in 2010. The building, built in 1929 as the Scafide Grocery Store, appeared as Starr Boarding House in the 1966 Robert Redford and Natalie Wood movie, “This Property is Condemned, ” but had been abandoned since then and was slated for demolition. The Bay Saint Louis Theatre building is now a designated Mississippi Landmark and has received the Governor’s Award for Excellence, the Hancock County Chamber of Commerce Award for Community Excellence, the Bay St. Louis Historic Preservation Commission “People’s Choice Award”, the Bay St. Louis Historic Preservation Commission “Heritage Award”, and the Mississippi Department of Archives and History “Mississippi Heritage and Trust Award.” (Photo by Carmen K.
