'WELCOME TO THE HOUSE OF FUN: A total whitewash and playful touches have given this home a new lightness of being' To ensure mistakes werent made in the rush to renovate their new home, Sophie and Toney Torney made only two changes to their mid 1950s Melbourne house immediately after moving in: they removed the carpets to reveal the floorboards and painted all the rooms white. They wanted to see how they lived in the house before making any changes and after a couple of years Sophie and Tony realised the three storey house worked well in separate zones, one for living one for sleeping and another for recreation. The main rooms have been opened up to improve the flow and sense of light and air. Utility rooms were removed from the hall on the middle level of the house to accommodate a long desk.
