The throne niche (opposite the entrance) of the Hall of the Ambassadors (Salón de los Embajadores) next to the Court of the Myrtles or Patio de Comares part of the Torre de Comares. It was built by the Nasrid sultan Yusuf I (r. 1333-1353) but some of the decoration is also likely to be by Muhammad V (1353-1391). The Arabic poetry in the throne niche includes these verses: "This is the high dome and we (the alcoves or niches) are its daughters, yet I have distinction and glory in my family. I am the heart amidst other parts of the body, for ti is in the heart that resides the strength of soul and spirit...to me only..is the sun of nobility for my lord, the favourite of God Yusuf, has decorated me with the clothes of splendour and of glory without vestments."
