The Quabbin Reservoir was created in the 1930's and 40's. It is the main source of fresh water for approximately two million residents of eastern Massachusetts. This image was taken inside Quabbin Park in Ware and Belchertown Massachusetts. The Reservoir is managed by the Division of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) of Massachusetts and owned by the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority. This image shows the spillway of the Winsor Dam during the winter. The spillway allows extra water to spill back into the Swift River as it leaves the Reservoir.
