Nissan unveils Pivo2 Nissan has unveiled the second generation of its electric Pivo concept car that will debut at the upcoming Tokyo Motor Show. The bizarre looking vehicle may look like the kind of thing you'd stumble across in a Jetsons-meets-Thunderbirds themed nightmare, but it boasts some impressive technology. Taking the 360-degree cabin rotation novelty of its predecessor Pivo, which was launched in 2005, to a whole new level, the vehicle's multi-direction concept is extended through an ability to rotate the bubble-shaped cabin to face any direction on the compass, evworld reports. Also upgraded are the vehicle's four wheels, which have boosted built-in electric motors that produce a kind of 3D magnetic field and have a 90-degree steering ability. Linked to the chassis by new claw-like structure's, the wheels have 90-degree steering ability which - when used in conjunction with the extra nimble cabin - enable drivers to drive horizontally out of even the tightest parking spots while actually facing the direction of motion. And just to make things even more complicated, Nissan helpfully decided to remove one of the doors. The electric vehicle remains one of the greenest in the market, however, boasting a life expectancy of five years or 100, 000 km of usage. (JP WN) Worldwide - October 2007
