andlt;strongandgt;Cerebellum structure.andlt;/strongandgt; Coloured light micrographof a section through the highly-folded cerebellumof the brain. The cerebellum comprises three mainlayers. The outer grey matter (cortex) comprisesthe molecular layer (red) and the granular layer(green). The molecular layer is largely made up ofthe highly branched dendrites of Purkinje nervecells, the large round bodies of which are foundat the junction between the molecular and granularlayers. Within the grey matter is the white matter(dark green), largely made up of the axons of thegrey matterandamp;apos;s nerve cells.
