CALIFORNIA, USA: Desert landscape with flowering Sand verbena, Desert gold, and Birdcage evening primrose with the Santa Rosa Mountains in background, Anza-Borrego State Park, California, USA. BREATH-TAKING pictures show how the rolling plains of the California deserts have burst into life with an explosion of wildflowers in an occurrence that that happens an average once every twenty years. The colourful images taken in the past few days show the vibrant purple, pink and yellow flowers littering the landscape as far as the eye can see. Other photos show the contrast between the usually barren desert and vibrant plants, being called the “super bloom”. The stunning shots were taken at the Sonoran Desert, Anza-Borrego State Park, California, USA and along the Arizona California border by photographer Jack Dykinga (74) from Tuscon, Arizona, USA.
