Historic image from the 1980's of the famous journey by steam train from Fort William to Mallaig in Scotland / UK. No releases available. --- In 1984 when British Rail reintroduced steam to the line it was known as "The West Highlander" which later became "The Lochaber". After "West Coast Railways" took over the running of this service in 1995 the line name became "The Jacobite". The train ride is regarded as one of the Great Railway Journeys of the World, due mainly to the stunning scenery. One of the highlights of the journey is passing over the Glenfinnan Viaduct- one of the largest concrete engineering feats of the late 19th century – and nowadays well known for appearing in the Harry Potter films.
