Entitled: "The Home of Frank and Jesse James" lithograph of their house and property. Jesse Woodson James (September 5, 1847 - April 3, 1882) was an American outlaw, gang leader, bank robber, train robber, and murderer and the most famous member of the James-Younger Gang. The James brothers were most active with their gang from about 1866-76, when their attempted robbery of a bank in Northfield, Minnesota resulted in the capture or deaths of several gang members. They continued in crime for several years, recruiting new members, but were under increasing pressure from law enforcement. On April 3, 1882, Jesse James was killed by a member of his own gang, Robert Ford, who hoped to collect a reward on James' head. Alexander Franklin "Frank" James (January 10, 1843 - February 18, 1915) was an Confederate soldier, guerrilla and outlaw. He was the older brother of outlaw Jesse James. Five months after the killing of his brother Jesse in 1882, he surrendered. He was tried for only two of the robberies/murders and acquitted in both. In his final years, James returned to the James Farm, giving tours for the sum of 25 cents. He died in 1915, at the age of 72.
