Gulliver's Travels (published in 1726) is a political satire by the English writer Jonathan Swift. Yet, despite its satire, its fairy tale quality has made it a popular children's classic. In the novel, Brobdingnag is a fictional land populated by giants. Gulliver lands there when the ship on which he is traveling is blown off course. In this 1902 illustration, one of the male inhabitants of Brobdingnag is showing Gulliver to his wife and children.
