Europe Spain Andalusia Seville Feria de Abril During a week Seville lives only for this festival. The music, food, dancing and the desire to enjoy life to give a very special environment.The Feria de Abril is one of the most international and popular festivals of Seville. Founded in 1847 as a cattle fair, with time, the cheerful nature of the event was imposed on the commercial side, to become an unmissable event for Seville. During the week, more than a thousand casetas (houses exhibitions) installed inside the exhibition area, becoming the second home of the inhabitants of Seville, a place to get together and have fun until dawn.Officially, the festival starts Monday at midnight with the lights test (test of alumbrao), where the thousands of colored bulbs light up the area and the main entrance of the fair, which is almost 50 meters high and it changes every year. Inside, in casetas (houses exhibitions), the fair is where you live. Formed by various members, are a familiar space in which greet your friends, relatives and guests with the typical products of the earth, drink wine, sing, talk and, of course, dance the Sevillana (typical dance of Andalusia). This environment, friendly and cheerful, there is also the outside: people usually dance in the street and the open character of Seville invites anyone to join the party. Do not forget that most of casetas are private and can be accessed at the invitation of a member or an acquaintance. There are however also the public and free admission. At the information desk at the entrance of the fair, you can learn about casetas.During the festival the people wear clothes typical of Andalusia: the men wear traditional rural clothing and women's dress flamenco or gypsy. During the day, the show is filled with riders, horsemen and carriages lavishly decorated. It is the so-called walk the horses, which you can participate by hiring a carriage with the driver of the regular service.
