It was reoccupied in the sixth century. The texts that refer to the arrival of Idris I (Moulay Idriss) in 788 show that the city was on the field of Awraba Berber tribe, who gave the welcome and became imam shortly thereafter. In three years consolidated its dominance in much of the area, founded the first settlement in Fez and began to produce coins.
