Dollar Cove lies just northwest of Gunwalloe Church Cove roughly midway between Porthleven and Mullion on the west coast of the Lizard Peninsula. More correctly called Jangye Ryn, Dollar Cove is a southwest facing beach of sand and shingle directly opposite the large car park at Winnianton Farm. The beach got its strange name from the fact local tales that a Portuguese treasure ship sank offshore in 1526 and in 1783 a ship carrying silver dollars was also wrecked nearby. Despite many amateur and even one professional search nothing significant has been found. For geologists Jangye Ryn offers some good folding in the rocks whilst casual visitors and families normally make their way to Gunwalloe Church Cove a little to the southeast.
