Coigach has a superb choice of sandy beaches, the best known being at Achnahaird which was featured in the Daily Mail - Sat 14th August 1999 - Best Of British Beaches by Sophie Butler who described it as :- "A pearl of a beach on Scotland's West Coast where you will find fine sand and peace. It lies north of Ullapool and is reached by a single-track road two miles past Achiltibuie. From there, a short walk will get you to low-lying grass hillocks that back sand and rock pools. There are lovely views of Stac Polly and other neighbouring mountains from the beach and most of the surrounding area is made up of Inverpolly Nature Reserve. The reserve is a haven for wild cats, pine martens and golden eagles."
