Closeup view of the Red Angels Trumpet at the [Brugmansia Sanguina] at the Dundee Botanical Gardens .Large trumpet flowers open downward and bloom for most of the year. The red angel's trumpet grows somewhat better in cooler but near frost free climates such as the San Francisco Bay Area .Brugmansia sanguinea, syn. Datura sanguinea, is also known as red angel's trumpet, scarlet angel’s trumpet, scarlet brugmansia or scarlet datura. (It should be better to name it scarlet brugmansia, though, as datura should be reserved to herbaceous and annual species). This plant is native to South America, and more precisely to Peru. This shrub can be up to 30 ft (6 m) tall. In colder climates, it will have more modest dimensions. It mainly blooms in spring and in summer, but in very mild climates it can almost bloom all the year round. Orange-red flowers are tubular and pendulous.
