The Temple of Hadrian (or Hadrianeum or Hadrian) is a Roman temple, which is located in Rome, in Piazza di Pietra, name that owes its name to the persistence of age-old remains of the ancient region of the Campus Martius. The temple was built in honor of Emperor Hadrian, deified after his death. It is likely that the construction of the building had already been started under Hadrian to dedicate himself to his wife Vibia Sabina, dead and deified in 136. A work may only just begun, the actual construction of the temple is to be his successor, Antoninus Pius, and was completed around 145. His remains are incorporated in a building of the seventeenth century, built by Carlo Fontana. The building, formerly a customs Vatican and, from 1831, was used as headquarters of the Stock Exchange of Rome. There are still visible eleven of the thirteen original columns of the north side. The building was once mistakenly known as the Temple of Neptune.
