The Padstow Rock ferry (a Seakeeper 715) and named "Black Tor", runs between Padstow and Rock, operating continuously throughout the day at 20 minute intervals. The ferry will depart from one of two points in Padstow depending on the tides.It is a great way for foot passengers to travel between Padstow and Rock and takes under 10 minutes for the crossing. This ferry crosses the Camel Estuary from either the harbour or slip in Padstow every 20 minutes, depending on the tide, to the beach at Rock. There are several reasons why tourists are attracted to Rock, from the long fine sandy beach that, at low tide, continues round Brea Hill to the crescent bay at Daymer, to the vast range of water sports that are catered for. Not to mention the five star food and accommodation that can be found at Rock. Accommodation in this area is generally higher in price than nearby Polzeath and Padstow. Not that the quality differs, it is mainly due to it's stunning location. Views of the busy harbour across the Estuary at Padstow and stunning sunsets both in winter and summer, coupled with the many golden white sandy beaches that adorn the estuary mouth. The cuisine on offer is varied both in price and quality, with Rick Stein's various restaurant and other food outlets in Padstow and Nathan Outlaw's in Rock and Port Isaacm as well as The Dining Room at Rock at the upper end.
