The Marienaltar stands in the middle of the nave of the Lord's Church of Creglingen and is dedicated to the Virgin Mary. It is one of the most famous works by Tilman Riemenschneider . The style of the figurative version speaks for execution in the years after the completion of the Rothenburger Heiligblut-Retabels around 1505-1508. The altarpiece depicts Mary's ascension. On the left and right are the Twelve Apostles. The group at the height of the altar shows the coronation of Mary. On the left is the father of God, and on the right the son on his throne. In the left wing, the Visitation is shown above, the Annunciation to Mary and the right wing above the birth of Jesus, below the presentation of Jesus in the Temple .
