The Cornerhouse building, once a popular cinema at Oxford Road Railway Station taken over by squatters. The building is due for demolition to make way for a new building in its place. Taken over by squatters to offer food and shelter to around 40 rough sleepers from around the city and is named 'loose Space by the inhabitants who have turned it into an art gallery displaying the artwork produced by the rough sleepers who are encouraged to draw and paint as therapy. Bailiffs failed to evict the squatters on 25th. April 2017 and they remain safe inside the building with access to water and hot food supplied by public volunteers. Loose Space is a temporary autonomous space open to the public, to those who want to have room to move, create, debate, seek shelter, ACT, explore, to sit, stand, dance and demand.
