The DAGMAR AAEN was built as a fishing cutter in 1931 in the Danish city of Esbjerg at the N. P. Jensen shipyard. Brest 1992, 1996, 2000, 2004, 2008, Brest 2012. .. is an international gathering of boats which takes place every four years. All types of old sailing the coast of Europe are present at Brest. It also boats offshore racing, tall ships, training ships of the Navy, pleasure yachts, fishing boats, traditional coasters, french luggers, tuna Breton, pinasses of Arcachon, skiffs, ... This event was born from organizing rallies boats that took place in the 80's: Pors Beach, 80, 82 and 84. Then in 1986, 400 traditional sailing gather in Douarnenez, admired by 10, 000 enthusiastic spectators. The popular success finally reveals the value of maritime culture. Public authorities adhere to project restoration of traditional boats and replicas. After 88 Douarnenez, initiatives are multiplying in the competition Chasse Marée "Ships off the coast of France" in 1990. Each association, each port is requested to restore or rebuild the ships of its heritage: a hundred boats and reborn to participate in the huge international gathering of BREST 92. This initiative is to relive maritime heritage at the same time preserving the memory.
