COP15 - The "Hopenhagen Globe" at Copenhagen City Hall Square. Copenhagen Denmark. At The UN Climate Conference, December 7 – 18, 2009, a giant 20 meter in diameter interactiv globe is installed. The Globe brings SMS messages from people around teh world and live feed messages via YOUTUBE to the 40 – 50.000 foreing climate vistors – government climate delegates, NGO’s and activists – and of course to the citizens of Copenhagen. New messages, electronic postcards and videos are after dark continously put on the globe. At the point of time of this photo, more than 11 million people had sent a message via HOPENHAGEN.ORG-site or SMS. This is the wolrds first virtual demonstration. On this photo a YOUTUBE video brings a message from the world famous photographer, Yann Arthus-Bertrand, author of the photobook "Earth from Above" and did the movie “Home”. Below is running an incomming SMS message from a New Zealand citizen: “Be brave and bold, so current and future generatios can fully enjoy the wonders of the planet. It’s not ours to squander.” Every day the Globe poses a question which will help further passers-by knowledge about the climate. Each day’s question can be answered via cell phone or from web pages. And between 4.30 pm to 5.30 pm news about the negotiations at the UN Climate Conference at the Bella Center are displayed on the Globe.In the background (right) the symbolic poster of HOPENHAGEN, showing two young buys: “The Earth Body Guard”.
