Burradon Tower is a ruined three storey, square tower house constructed from sandstone rubble. The ground floor is vaulted with a spiral stair in the southeast corner giving access to the upper floors; the first and the second floors are at present in a ruinous state. It is thought the tower was built in the early half of the sixteenth century. This tower house, or Pele tower, was built for defensive purposes as well as habitation and a number of such buildings were constructed in the wilder parts of Great Britain, particularly along the Scottish and English border counties, during the Middle Ages up to the 17th century.
