Kazanlak Rose festival celebrated 110 years with the annual rose picking ritual and parade in the towns festival, which starts in May and lasts for a month with different events held in village and town across the rose picking region the first weekend in June ends the celebrations with the crowning of the Rose Queen and traditional picking ritual which visitor can participate in the ritual. The annual event started in 1903 on the first Saturday in June. Bulgaria is one of the biggest producers of rose oil in the world. The reason for this is hidden in the high qualities of the Bulgarian Kazanluk rose ("Kazanlashka roza"), a special type, that was cultivated in our country after many years of production and development.
