ÖLAND, SWEDEN – August 16, 2014: Bentley Model R Continental, built at year 1955, in the oldtimer car rally The Swedish Kings Rally on the island Öland in Sweden The Swedish King´s Rally was first held to mark The King Carl XVI Gustaf's 50th birthday. The rally on Saturday 16 August 2014 — the eleventh in a row — started from the lawn in front of the Strand Hotel in Borgholm at the Swedish island Öland and ended at Borgholm Castle after a route in the countryside at Öland. The King and Queen Silvia took part in the rally with The Kings Volvo built at year 1946, the same year as The King was born. The Swedish island Öland, the island of sun and wind, is located in the Baltic Sea just off the coast of mainland Sweden. The nature and landscapes of Öland is unique with a special light and a wide range of different nature types such as beaches, forests, coastal meadows and alvar (great plain areas). This makes Öland different from other parts of Sweden and makes it to a paradise for all kind of tourists. Southern Öland is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and there is a lot of nature reserves all over the island. Öland is connected with mainland Sweden by Ölandsbron (Oland bridge), one of the longest bridges in Europe.
