Old tramcar at Skjoldenaesholm Tramcar Museum. Ringsted. Denmark. Skjoldenaesholm Tram Museum, located near the small village, Jystrup, 65 kilometers from Copenhagen, was opened in May 1978. Trams from various Danish towns as well as foreing cities, like Hamburg, Freiburg etc. The museum, beeing very professional, is run enterily by volunteers and is known as one of the best in Europe. Visiting the Tram museum during weekends, you will find ticket inspector from Rostokck in Germany, tram conductor from Amsterdam, Holland, or Basel, Switzerland, or working on repairing the trams or the rail track etc. and indicating how respected this unique museum is also among tram entusiast. Both for kids and grown ups its a great experience to ride the old street cars through the Zealand forest. At the terminus there is a picnic area. The rail track is 1.8 kilometers and the museum contains more than 100 vehicles, lined up in the museum hall.
