Disused overgrown running track at Harper Green Playing Fields, Farnworth, Bolton, Lancashire. The public playing fields, with football pitches, running track, field sports facilities and sports pavilion was opened by the Duke of Edinburgh in 1963. The shale-surface running track and field sports facilities which formed part of the original facilities have fallen into disuse and disrepair. The sports pavilion was repeatedly vandalized and subject to arson attacks, which led it to being demolished completely following a particularly serious arson fire in 2012 during refurbishment following earlier attacks.
