It´s an old castle we have to tell you about. The castle has its roots all the way to King Harald Blu Tooth. During the Middle Ages and until 1536. Borgeby was one of the Bishop of Lund´s Castle. After the Reformation it came into private ownership. We begin around 880 after Christ. Outside the castle, a wooden chursh was erected, later to be repoaced by one of the stones. Outside all this lay the farmer´s village of Borgeby. During the 13th century, the castle was enlarged, and a strong defense tower was built, the gate building of which you ca still see. A strong demand og violence, surrounded the new large castle. In 1452 Karl Knutsson burns the Castle. After this is erected the Archbishop´s Chapel, which can still bee seen. Unfortunately, this is restored by Hugo Zettervall in 1817. After the Reformation in 1536, the Castle in 1540 was left by King Kristian d.III, inpledge to the mayor of Malmø Jörgen Kock. Various nobles have then owned Borgeby. The castle burns again 7 may 1678 by the Danes during the Skåne War. Only the walls remained, but soon a new Borgeby was finished. The stables are from 1744. The last noble owner is Count Raoul Wachtmeister , nut spends all his wealth. Then it´s the farmer Lars Pehrsson. Today, Borgeby is owned by the artist Ernst Norlin, and in 1978 by his son Staffan, who died the same year. Lomma minicipality became owner in 2007 and 2012 the Castle is sold to Borgeby Slot AB. The land is owned by the Household Company Malmøhus.
