Rochester, Minnesota, USA - October 24, 2012: Entrance lobby of the Plummer Building, the iconic symbol of the famous Mayo Clinic that opened in 1928. Now a National Historic Landmark, it was named for Dr. Henry Plummer who designed it as a place for doctors to treat patients and collaborate on medical research. Although patients are now treated at the Gonda Building directly across the street, the 15 floor Plummer Building remains an integral administrative center for the Mayo Clinic and houses a History of Medicine including metal instruments and access to the doctor offices of founder's Dr. Will and Charlie Mayo. Inlaid marble mosaic on the floor decorates the lobby of the original Mayo Clinic. The 16 ft bronze doors weigh 4, 000 lbs each.
