Riva del Garda is one of the lovely small towns on this lake in Northern Italy. Lake Garda is a popular European tourist destination situated near the Dolomites and Italian Alps. Riva del Garda is located at the north-western corner of Lake Garda, approximately 70 metres (230 ft) above sea level. The town is located at the southern edge of the Italian Alps, near to the Dolomites. It is bordered by Mount Rocchetta to the west and Monte Baldo to the east. The Museo Civico is located in the Rocca, a medieval fortress placed on the lake, bounded by a canal with lifting bridge. It is frequently the venue of cultural activities, especially during the summer months. Riva del Garda belonged to the republic of Venice and later to the Austro-Hungarian empire until 1918. Since 1918, Riva del Garda has been a part of Italy.
