This is a coupling of the side latching type of simple and durable construction and adapted for automatic coupling with a similar coupling on another car while the uncoupling may be effected from the sides or top of a car. It comprises a cham bered drawheatt within which are two oppositely pitched inclines a pivoted latch block riding on the inclines when partially rotated and sliding by gravity to inter lock a notch on its u rider side with a shoulder on one incline.
