Petry Church is dedicated to St. Nikolaus, the saint of sailors. Incidentally, the church is a copy of the Danish church iin Copenhagen, Vor Frue, wihich burned down during the bombardment of Copenhagen i 1807. A smaller church built in brick used to syand on the square. This is mentioned for the first time in 1316, when it was completed, In 1384, a large priestly ceremony was held in St. Petri, which means that the church was completed at that time. In 1420, this large tower crashes down and completely destroys the large baptistery, which then stood in thenave under the tower, this is today partially preserved in the Malmøhus Museum. The baptismal fund was made at Godland. A new tower was built, with this crashing down again in the year 1442, and then being replaced by the tower we see today. The church began in the 15 century with several chapels of wich ST. Anna chapel and the Kræmer Chapel are stil completely intact. The shopkeeper´s chapel contains wall paintings partly from 1460s and partly fromthe 1520s. These frescoes are among the best preserved from the late Middle Ages in Sweden
