The Peruvian Caballo de Paso, the Pacer horse has been refined and developed by Breeders in Peru over a duration of more than four centuries. The original bloodstock of this well loved and respected breed came to the shores of South America with the Spanish conquistadores and over the years through selective breeding the Peruvian Paso has gained an enviable reputation among equine societies throughout the world. This has led to ranches in many countries like United States and Canada setting up breeding centres to supply a demand. The Paso is often seen at shows and festivals going through it's paces being ridden by the proud Chalan(rider) dressed in traditional coastal finery. Two important annual events in Peru are the Spring festival in Trujillo last week in September and the National show in Lima. Peruvian Paso horses are part of the National heritage.see Also ARB646 ARB647
