On the 9th June 2014, members of the band Snow Patrol got together with Gerry Armstrong and David Campbell, football players from the 1986 Northern Ireland world cup squad to record vocals for the film, Shooting For Socrates. SHOOTING FOR SOCRATES is a David Vs. Goliath set in Belfast against the backdrop of the 1986 World Cup. Starring John Hannah (Four Weddings and a Funeral) as Billy Bingham, Conleith Hill (Whatever Works) as Jackie Fullerton and Bronagh Gallagher (The Commitments), it tells the story of a momentous time in Northern Ireland's football history through the eyes of players, fans and the media. Snow Patrol are a Scottish/Irish alternative rock band formed at the University of Dundee in 1994.[1] The group comprises four Northern Irish members; Gary Lightbody (vocals, guitar), Nathan Connolly (guitar, backing vocals), Jonny Quinn (drums), Johnny McDaid (piano, guitar, backing vocals), and Scottish member Paul Wilson (bass guitar, backing vocals).
