Note how the map gives locations of hotels, theaters, railroad route, and interesting places such as a "lunatic asylum, " a penitentiary, an alms house, and the location of ship line piers. The Brooklyn Bridge is the lone bridge. Roosevelt Island was known as Blackwell's Island. The map serves as a valuable historical reference. Originally from: Pennsylvania Railroad to the Columbian Exposition, With Descriptive Notes of the Cities of New York, Baltimore, Philadelphia, Washington, Chicago; And a Complete Description of the Exposition Grounds and Buildings.
