At the southern end of the bay, about two miles east of Fraserburgh is Cairnbulg Briggs, marked by a beacon. Close by is the wreck of the fishing vessel Sovereign, which ran aground in December 2005. urgh Harbour Lighthouse was built at the end of Balaclava Breakwater in the fishing harbour of Fraserburgh in 1882.
