A South Shore Line commuter train in the middle of 11th Street in Michigan City, Indiana during its journey from South Bend, Indiana to Chicago. The South Shore Line is an electrically powered interurban commuter rail line operated by the Northern Indiana Commuter Transportation District (NICTD) between Chicago's Millennium Station in downtown Chicago and the South Bend International Airport in South Bend, Indiana, Previously owned and operated by the Chicago South Shore and South Bend Railroad or just as the South Shore and South Bend , which continues to operate freight traffic, its passenger service was assumed by NICTD in 1989.
