Diego Jacquet began his career in Buenos Aires in 1993, when he joined renowned Argentine Chef Francis Mallman’s restaurants as an apprentice. During the culinary fair Expogourmandise (1996), he was awarded the Top Main Course category award and was selected as one of the top young chefs of Argentina. In 1998, Diego joined the team of Casa Nicolasa in San Sebastian, Spain. He later took a position at the three Michelin star restaurant El Bulli of Chef Ferran Adria, now closed but considered several times as one of the best restaurants in the world. In 2001, he joined Aquavit, the famous Swedish restaurant run by Chef Marcus Samuelsson on 55th Street, New York. He there formed part of the team that made the restaurant receive a three stars award from the critics. His rapid success in both New York and Sweden was key to his arrival in the UK. In 2003, Diego was appointed Executive Chef of London’s boutique hotel The Trafalgar, where he was given the responsibility of completely re-designing the restaurant’s food & beverage menus. In 2006 he joined the award winning The Zetter Hotel and Restaurant where renowned food critic Fay Maschler described him as a talented and distinguished young chef. Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Diego Jacquet spent most of his youth in Patagonia, where he discovered his love for food and wild products. Diego always describes Patagonia as his place in the world and often returns to the great South to find peace & inspiration.
