Huang Doudou picks free snacks at a hot-pot restaurant where she dances every Thursday night in Urumqi, northwest Chinas Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, 26 October 2011. 7-year-old Huang Doudou is a primary school student in Urumqi City, but every Thursday night she wears a thick make-up and a dress that is totally unfit for her age to dance at a hot-pot restaurant. Huang Doudous father suffers from some illness and can only do some short term jobs. Huang Doudous mother is handicapped and she makes money for the family by babysitting other peoples kids and peddlling in street. They are living in a harsh and small room of less than 12 square meters. In order to support her family, 7-year-old Huang Doudou chose to perform dancing at the hotpot restaurant to earn money. She said, she is paid with 800 yuan per month. But the job is hard too, as she has to walk back home with her schoolbag after 22:00 pm when the performance ends every Thursday, and then she has to have dinner and do her homework when arriving home.
