The bell tower, in Romanesque style like the oldest part of the Cathedral, is in bands of white and green marble and has six orders of windows, which from single lancet windows (the lower ones) become hexaphores (the higher ones). It was started in an unspecified period (but in any case after the dome which dates back to 1264) starting from a pre-existing tower of the Bisdomini, whose wall structures are still visible today in the internal cell. It was completed in 1313. It is the only one with this progressive growth of windows up to six. Increases up to the quadrifora are recorded in other bell towers, including Sienese ones (Basilica dei Servi, Pieve di S. Giovanni Battista in Rosia…), but no further. The crowning feature is a cusp in the shape of an octagonal pyramid. The bell tower has six bells, which almost form a correct diatonic scale, from different eras and fusions. Their sound from an acoustic point of view is certainly not the best but they are very interesting from a historical point of view.https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Campanile_del_Duomo_di_Siena
